Overview
This license is for those selling or dealing in firearms and/or ammunition. It includes gun repair. If you have questions, contact DSI at 651-266-8989, or email the DSI Message Center. Note: On April 11, 2001 the Saint Paul City Council adopted Council File #01-376 that extends for up to 18 months an interim ordinance (Council File 00-131, adopted 3/8/00) that temporarily prohibits the issuing of permits or granting other zoning approvals to gun shops in any zoning district. Contact a DSI Project Facilitator for additional information.

Application Requirements
You must submit the following:
- Class N License District Council Form
- Class N License Application
- Federal Firearms Permit issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms
- Lease / rental agreement or proof of ownership
- Required fee
Inspections
Your application will be administratively reviewed by DSI Licensing, Zoning, and Fire Inspection staff. This review may include on-site inspections(s) to verify compliance with applicable regulations. You will be informed of any required inspections including the name and telephone number of the inspector after the submission of a completed license application. The location must be in compliance with all applicable regulations and/or license conditions before any license may be issued.

Expiration/Renewal
A Firearms License will expire one year from the date of issuance and may be renewed annually.
