Project Background

The City of Saint Paul Division of Parks and Recreation is considering the design and construction of a Multipurpose Parks and Recreation Destination to replace the existing 1500 Rice Street Parks Facility. The Multipurpose Parks and Recreation Destination (“MPRD”) is contemplated to include a combination of athletic courts, competitive ball fields, a running track, a classroom, recreation locker rooms, and a training facility. The site is approximately 25 acres with primary access points on Rice Street and is surrounded primarily by industrial properties to the Northwest and single-family homes, and garden-style apartments to the south and east.

Community Engagement

Stakeholder Engagement interviews will fit into a broader engagement initiative focused on creating a regional athletic presence for generations to come. As the consultant, NEOO Partners plans to engage a diversity of stakeholders that identify as Public Sector Stakeholders, Private Sector Stakeholders (Profit, property owners, and Non-profit), and Community leaders/members.

Throughout this project there will be additional opportunities to engage, this will not be the only opportunity. The information from stakeholders will be sought to support building project understanding and understanding of what is valued.

Engagement Goals:
●    To gather insights from community members and stakeholders that can inform programming and design.
●    Explore potential collaborations to identify strategic partnerships that ensure sustainability and community involvement.
●    Engage residents, community members, and stakeholders that creates a space that strengthens and fosters community connection.
