The Parks and Recreation Department has developed a Master Plan for Summit Avenue
Description
Summit Avenue will be reconstructed to include a new asphalt roadway, sidewalks, curbs and underground utilities including sewer and water. This project will improve the bicycle facilities, lighting, boulevard trees and sod. Improvements include:
- Bituminous pavement
- Boulevard trees
- Concrete curb and gutter
- Concrete outwalks and driveway aprons
- Lantern-style street lighting
- Private utility upgrades
- Sewer and water main replacement or repair
- Storm sewer catch basins
Summit Avenue design goals include maintaining historic character of the avenue, minimizing impact to existing trees, maintaining on-street parking on at least one side, improving the bicycle facilities, and improving efficient snow removal operations.

- Master Plan for Summit Avenue Fall 2021 to Summer 2023
- UPDATE 10/13/2022: Summit Avenue Reconstruction Project for 2023 has been cancelled. Summit Avenue from Lexington Parkway to Victoria Street AND Summit Avenue from Mississippi River Boulevard to Snelling Avenue will receive street maintenance treatments to improve the road surfaces in 2023.
