SPPD is committed to racial equity

The Saint Paul Police Department partnered with the University of Saint Thomas to create a racial equity curriculum and tool to measure success of the training program. The work has been completed including the final report.

1.7.1 The Federal Government should develop survey tools and instructions for use of such a model to prevent local departments from incurring the expense and to allow for consistency across jurisdictions.

1.7 Law enforcement agencies should track the level of trust in police by their communities just as they measure changes in crime. Annual community surveys, ideally standardized across jurisdictions and with accepted sampling protocols, can measure how policing in that community affects public trust.

SPPD is committed to improvement

The Saint Paul Police Department launched a survey to gain insight on what the community feels the department is doing well, what can be improved and the overall level of trust, service and respect people experience during their interactions with sworn and civilian staff. Survey results will be used to identify trends, excellence, concerns that need to be addressed and opportunities to improve. Aggregate results will be released on an annual basis.
