Grant Submission Process

Letter of Interest & Pre-Application – Deadline: August 24, 2018

Interested parties (the applicant) must submit a one page letter of interest and pre-application. The City pre-application is an online form that cannot be saved. Attached are pre-applications guides to assist you with filling out the online application. Applications must be submitted through the online form. Do not submit an application fee with a City pre-application.

Notification of Selected Projects - Week of September 10, 2018

The City will contact those applicants that have been selected to submit applications.

Draft Application – Deadline: October 10, 2018

The applicant is responsible for preparing a draft application for each of the programs to which they will be submitting applications. City staff are available to assist by providing technical information, coordinating required City Council resolutions, and reviewing the application for completeness and accuracy. Metropolitan Council grants must be submitted using the Metropolitan Council's WebGrants system. The City will create the application in the WebGrants system. If not already linked to St. Paul in the account, please ask your project manager to have that occur. Payment of the City application fee is required with the draft applications.

Fees:

Brownfield Grants (DEED and/or Metropolitan Council ): $750 for one application; $1,225 for more than one application for the same project

 Predevelopment Grants:  $750 for one application; $1,225 for more than one application for the same project

Final Application Submission – Deadline: October 25, 2018

The applicant must submit a final application to the City no later than October 25, 2018, for final review by staff. Those applicants seeking DEED funds are responsible for printing and turning in the final application package to the agency. For Metropolitan Council grants, the City must submit the final application.

Award Process

If a project is selected for funding by one of the granting agencies, the developer or property owner will be required to enter into a sub-grant agreement with the City, which will detail specific compliance requirements. Please contact your assigned project manager to discuss compliance requirements.
