Overview

A parking ramp is a building or structure, or part thereof, in which a structural level (a level with space below the parking area that can be occupied) is used for parking, storing, or maintaining motor vehicles, and where the owner or person storing or parking a vehicle is charged a fee. Open to the public.

A parking ramp (Government) is a government building or government structure, or part thereof, in which a structural level (a level with space below the parking area that can be occupied) is used for parking, storing or maintaining motor vehicles, and where the owner or person storing or parking a vehicle is not charged a fee.

A parking ramp (Private) is exclusively used by or leased to occupants of a residence or business on the same or other premises for use only in connection with and as accessory to the occupancy of such residence or business, and where the owner or person storing or parking such vehicle is not charged a fee. Closed to the public. 

A Parking lot or parking lot or building means and includes any premises where ten (10) or more motor vehicles are parked, stored or allowed to remain, and where the owner or person storing or parking such vehicle is charged a fee. "Parking lot" excludes any parking area other than a parking garage that is exclusively used by or leased to occupants of a residence on the same or other premises for use only in connection with and as accessory to the occupancy of such residence.

Application Requirements

You must submit an application that includes the following:

Inspections

Your application will be reviewed by DSI Licensing, Zoning and Fire Inspection staff. This review may include on-site inspections(s) to verify compliance with applicable regulations. You will be informed of any required inspections including the name and telephone number of the inspector after submitting a completed license application. The location must comply with all applicable regulations and/or license conditions before any license may be issued.

Expiration/Renewal

A Parking Garage (Ramp) license will expire one year from the date it is issued may be renewed annually.
