Overview
A body repair shop is a shop which is in the business of making major or substantial repairs to the shell or body of an automobile, including frame-straightening, dent repair, and replacement or repair of parts, but not including any painting.
The auto body repair shop license does not include general auto repair. You must obtain a separate license for general auto repair.

Code Requirements
See Chapter 423, Chapter 65.705 and Chapter 66.521 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code for information about automobile repair garages.
Application Requirements
You must submit the following:
- Class N License District Council Form
- Class N License Application
- Zoning Business Application
- Lease / rental agreement or proof of ownership
- A site plan floor plan
- Required fee
Inspections
Your application will be administratively reviewed by DSI Licensing, Zoning and Fire Inspection staff. This review may include on-site inspections(s) to verify compliance with applicable regulations. You will be informed of any required inspections including the name and telephone number of the inspector after the submission of a completed license application. The location must be in compliance with all applicable regulations and/or license conditions before any license may be issued.

Expiration/Renewal
The Auto Repair Garage License will expire one year from date of issuance and may be renewed annually.
