Public Education

The Public Education Program of the Saint Paul Fire Department has evolved to prevent unintentional injuries among high-risk populations. The focus is based on empirical data gathered by the Centers for Disease Control, Minnesota Department of Public Health, and from the Department’s EMS run reports. The department reaches approximately 80,000 people per year with our Public Education efforts.

We provide FREE presentations on topics for all ages and topics including burn and fire prevention for children, child fire play intervention, fire extinguisher training, cooking fire prevention, fall and fire prevention for older adults, and more. Youth Fire Play Intervention Program

An interest in fire is normal for youth, but playing with matches, lighters, or starting fires is not normal or safe. Our Youth Fire Play Intervention Program is designed to intervene and provide education for youth and their families. Referrals to this program may come from family members, schools, law enforcement, social workers, mental health workers, or others who are concerned about a youth playing with matches, lighters, or fire.

If you live in Saint Paul and would like to enroll your child in this free program, contact the Office of Public Education at
