SAINT PAUL, MN (Wednesday, July 31) – The City of Saint Paul will reopen Water Street/Lilydale Road from the Lilydale Pool and Yacht Club to the Saint Paul Marina to all vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic on Wednesday, July 31 after 7 p.m.  Saint Paul Public Works and Parks and Recreation crews have cleared flood debris and inspected the road to determine that it’s safe to reopen to all traffic. There will be some ongoing repair and restoration work on the riverbank and park trails. Please use caution while on park trails.

Water Street was closed on June 5 due to summer flooding of the Mississippi River. According to the National Weather Service, the Mississippi River water levels in Saint Paul crested at 20.17 feet on June 29. This was the eighth highest recorded flood for Saint Paul.

Water Street, which is located on the south side of the Mississippi River and runs through parkland, is the first roadway to flood when the Mississippi River water levels reach minor flood stage of 14 feet.
