Multiple 911 calls led Saint Paul police to the scene of a deadly shooting Friday night on the city’s East Side.
Officers were called to the 1200 block of Westminster Street just before 7 p.m. That’s where they found an unresponsive man, gravely wounded by an apparent gunshot wound.
The officers secured the scene, rendered aid, and called for St. Paul Fire medics. Medics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
A short time later, officers learned a second victim, an adult male, was dropped off at Regions Hospital by a private party. The second victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He is currently in surgery with life-threatening injuries.
Members of the police department’s Homicide Unit were called in and are currently looking for possible witnesses. The Forensic Services Unit will process the scene for evidence.
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 651-266-5650. Investigators do not think this was a random act.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the deceased and determine his exact cause of death. That information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the police department’s Twitter page, @sppdmn.
This is the 29th homicide this year in Saint Paul.
