When officers arrived, they spoke to the adult female victim who stated she was sleeping when she heard someone pounding on the side door of her home. An unknown male forced entry into the home. The suspect robbed the victim of money before pulling out a weapon and sexually assaulting her. The male suspect fled the home after the assault and the victim called 911. Saint Paul Fire medics transported the victim to Regions Hospital to be evaluated.
Officers secured the scene and began to search the neighborhood for the suspect. The male suspect was not located. He is described as an African American male, 25 to 35 years old, 5’10” to 5’11”, wearing a black t-shirt, black pants with a zipper on the right leg and black heavy soled shoes. He is described as dark complected and having a vertical scar extending from his sternum to his belt line.
Investigators with the police department's sexual violence unit have been working since early this morning to determine who is responsible for this crime. In addition, members of the forensic services unit have processed the scene with the hope that they could locate evidence that could assist investigators with identifying the person responsible.
