Officers and Saint Paul Fire Medics responded to a 911 call for a person down at about 2:07 a.m. and located an adult male near a loading dock. Medics evaluated him and found an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. The male was not breathing and unresponsive.
Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead without being transported to a hospital.
Patrol officers secured the scene, began looking for possible witnesses and held the scene until members of the homicide, forensic services and video management units could arrive.
At this time, the circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation, and no arrests have been made. Investigators ask anyone with information to call 651-266-5650.
The Ramsey County medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the victim and determine an exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account, @sppdmn.
This is the 33rd homicide of the year in Saint Paul.
