Just after 2 p.m., Saint Paul police officers were called on a report that a person had shot themself in an apartment on the 1900 block of Marshall Avenue. Officers arrived and located the adult male victim with a gunshot wound to the head. They secured the scene and called for Saint Paul Fire medics, who pronounced the man dead on scene. A handgun was also located in the apartment.
Investigators interviewed witnesses and noticed inconsistences with their statements. This led to investigator’s having probable cause to book an 18-year-old male into the Ramsey County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the victim and determine his exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter/X account, @sppdmn.
This is the sixth homicide of 2024 in Saint Paul.
