Saint Paul police officers responding to a report of a domestic disturbance in the city’s Payne-Phalen neighborhood found a woman dead inside a residence early Wednesday, Nov. 10.
The call to 911 came in just before 4 a.m. and when officers got to the home on the 600 block of Cook Avenue East, they found a disturbing scene—an unresponsive woman in her 60s, who was badly beaten. They also located a man in his 30s inside the home. He was identified as a suspect.
Officers secured the scene and detained the man. They called for Saint Paul Fire medics, who arrived a short time later and pronounced the woman dead without transporting her to a hospital.
The man, later identified as Christopher Aaron Olson, 38, was transported to police headquarters and interviewed. He was later booked into the Ramsey County Jail on suspicion of murder.
The department’s Forensic Service Unit will process the scene and the Ramsey County medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the victim and determine her exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account, @sppdmn.
This is the 33rd homicide of the year for Saint Paul.
