Many members of the immigrant community are concerned about the coming administration and possible changes in immigration enforcement. In this environment of uncertainty, it’s particularly important to be aware of potential scammers who may take advantage of immigrants in a vulnerable position.

In an effort to prevent such abuses, the Office of the Minnesota Attorney General released a statement with tips on avoiding immigration fraud. The Saint Paul Immigrant and Refugee Program has previously led a campaign to raise awareness in the community about the warning signs and consequences of such fraud. Information about the campaign can be found on the Immigrant and Refugee Program website, and the Attorney General’s statement can be found in English and in Spanish.

Contact Assistant City Attorney, Edmundo Lijo, the Saint Paul Immigrant and Refugee Program, for additional resources or for help with your questions. He can be reached at (651) 266-8783 or Edmundo.Lijo@ci.stpaul.mn.us.
