About High Bridge Dog Park

The High Bridge Dog Park is a 7-acre, former coal power plant site that was given to the city for operation as a dog-park following clean-up in May 2012. Thanks to a land-use agreement with Xcel Energy/NSP-Minnesota, the City of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Department operates the High Bridge Dog Park. High Bridge Dog Park is located just south of Shepard Road, west of Upper Landing, north of the River, and just beneath the Smith Ave High Bridge.

NOTE: The High Bridge Dog Park cannot be immediately accessed from the High Bridge. If traveling by car, see directions below.

Access this off-leash dog park by taking Shepard Road to Randolph Ave:

If traveling southwest on Shepard: Turn left on Randolph (towards the River) and follow almost all the way to the end of the road until you see the High Bridge above (large parking lot on left).

If traveling northeast on Shepard: Turn right on Randolph (towards the River) and follow almost all the way to the end of the road until you see the High Bridge above (large parking lot on left).

If traveling south on Randolph: Continue on Randolph as you cross Shepard Road (towards the River) and follow almost all the way to the end of the road until you see the High Bridge above (large parking lot on left).

Access this off-leash dog park by foot or bike by taking the Sam Morgan Regional Trail:

If traveling from Downtown/Upper Landing: Access the trail by Chestnut Plaza near the river (behind the Anytime Fitness). Continue west on the trail until you see the Smith Ave High Bridge above. Access the entrance through the parking lot on the right.

If traveling from the West or Randolph Ave: At the Shepard Road and Randolph Ave intersection, take side-walk south east towards the river and east on Randolph. Continue east on the trail until you see the Smith Ave High Bridge above. Access the entrance through the parking lot on the left.

Entrances

The park, which is completely enclosed offers 1 primary entrance area. The main entrance is at the western most end of the Dog Park. This entrance is closest to the parking lot. The entrance has a swing gate which needs to be closed upon entering and exiting. 

Water

Running water is not available at the park. Users are responsible to supply water for their animals.
