Earlier this year, OFE launched the LOCAL Fund: Worker Ownership and Community Ownership programs which uses a shared ownership approach to building community wealth and supports business retention. Shared ownership is a strategy that fuels vibrant and resilient local economies, creates quality jobs and addresses wealth and income inequality.

On October 8th, 2024, the Office of Financial Empowerment and our partners, Project Equity, Nexus Community Partners, and Living Cities hosted a Shared Ownership Equity Summit. The Summit was a one-day event that aimed to:

  • Share tools and resources to expand audience’ knowledge of shared ownership
  • Get inspired by local employee ownership and shared ownership success stories
  • Highlight the work of the City of Saint Paul around shared ownership
  • Connect local government leaders and community partners to support the growth and development of our shared ownership ecosystem

Over 65 individuals representing local government, philanthropy, nonprofits, worker owners, and members of community owned real estate investment cooperatives.
