Minnesota Street Reconstruction Phase 2

 This week (October 28  – November 1)

• Construction continues and is nearing the end of the season on Minnesota Street from 6th to 9th Streets.
• Traffic control signage for vehicles and pedestrians is in place. Please follow all posted signs. 
• October 31, a large structure was set on Minnesota Street north of 7th Place. Access on Minnesota Street was temporarily closed during this work.
• Parking for the Golden Rule has reopened for contract tenants. If access from Minnesota Street is blocked at 7th Place, please use the entrance from 7th Street.
• Securian Parking exit on 7th Place will reopen on Friday afternoon.

Next week (November 4  – November 8)

• Concrete subcontractor will be forming and pouring concrete on site next week on west side of Minnesota Street.
  • Crews will be working on pouring the remaining sections of concrete walk, roadway concrete pavement and curb.
• Crews will be milling pavement and re-paving on 7th Place.
  • Please proceed with caution while this work is being performed. (Access down 7th Place will remain open.)

 This week (October 21  – October 25)

• Construction continues on Minnesota Street from 6th to 9th Streets.
• Private utility and city lighting crews are working on prepping and pouring the utility foundations along with installing new conduit lines and handholes.
• Earthwork crews continued with sidewalk preparations for concrete.
• Concrete subcontractor is pouring the majority of sidewalks on the west side of Minnesota Street this and next week. 

Next week (October 28  – November 1)

• Concrete subcontractor will be forming and pouring concrete on site next week.
  • Crews will be working on pouring the remaining sections of concrete sidewalk.
• Crews will be removing and replacing the driveway apron and a portion of concrete curb at the Southeast corner of 7th Place and Minnesota Street.
  • Securian parking lot commuters will be directed to exit out the west door on to Minnesota Street during this time.
  • One lane at the 7th Place intersection will be close around the corner so crews can perform their work, the out lane will remain open for commuters down 7th Place.
• Later in the week the contractor plans to excavate and place a large storm water structure on the west side of Minnesota Street, north of 7th Place.
  • On Thursday (October 31), the crew plans to bring in a crane to set the structure.  During this time the access north on Minnesota Street will be temporarily closed off.
  • Golden Rule Tenants will need to access the parking lot from 7th Street during that time.
    • As soon as work is complete the crews will have the crane moved out of the way for commuters.

This week (October 14- 18)

• The Contractor moved the pedestrian sidewalk access on Minnesota Street from the west side of the road to the east side. Pedestrian routes are designated by signs.
• Crews are removing existing sidewalk and pouring curb and gutter as well as new walk on the west side of Minnesota Street.
• All pavement has been completed on the project other than a few repair and fill in areas.  Traffic is restricted to the east side of Minnesota street.
• Underground electrical utilities were installed and Xcel Energy was onsite finishing up their work on the underground utility vaults.

Next Week (October 21- 25)

• Sidewalk grading continues and sidewalk will be poured on the west side of Minnesota Street. This will continue from 6th Street to 7th Street and is scheduled for the majority of next week.  
• Staged sidewalk pours will be performed at business entrances to maintain access at all times.
• Schedule is to have all sidewalk on the west side of Minnesota Street completed with the exception of the intersection of 7th Place where the underground storm water treatment structure (BMP) still needs to be installed. The BMP is currently scheduled to be installed the week of October 28.

This week (October 7  – October 11)

    • A single lane for local access will be maintained on Minnesota Street between 6th and 7th Place. (Access from 7th Place to 7th Street has been closed for current construction activities.)

    • Large equipment is moving around on site so travel will caution through this area.

Next week (October 14  – October 18)

• The Contractor will be transitioning the pedestrian sidewalk access on Minnesota Street from the west side of the road to the east side.
  • Please be vigilant and follow signed pedestrian routes.
• Crews will be removing and preparing for sidewalk on the west side of Minnesota Street.
  • Late next week or the following week the concrete subcontractor will be on site to prep and pour the sidewalk.
  • Crews will also be prepping and pouring concrete pavement at most of the remaining locations on Minnesota Street.

• Concrete subcontractor poured concrete driveway at Golden Rule parking ramp and they poured curb on Minnesota Street along the west side from 6th Street to 7th Place (left out a section at Securian Driveway for commuters to access parking ramp) .  Crew poured concrete pavement from 6th Street to 7th Place (left out a section at Securian Driveway for commuters to access parking ramp). 
  • The concrete is currently curing, after 7 days the concrete should reach its required strength for vehicle traffic.
• Traffic has been adjusted to the west side of the roadway to avoid construction.  
  • Please continue to use caution and be visual of signage and construction workers as you commute through the site.

Next week (October 4  – October 11)

• Crews will be preparing sidewalk on the east side of road. (Removing remaining concrete and pouring new pedestrian ramps and walkways.)
• Crews plan to pour final sections of concrete pavement south of 7th Place once existing concrete pavement cures properly.
  • Access will be maintained to the parking ramp at all times.
  • There may be a short pause or delay in parking ramp access as crews are working in this area.
  • We appreciate your patience while the crews do their best to pour the concrete in these tight locations.

• Concrete subcontractor has done the following concrete work:
  • Poured concrete at the driveway at the Securian parking ramp. A section was not poured to maintain vehicle access to parking ramp. 
  • Poured concrete curb on Minnesota Street along the east side from 6th to 7th Streets. A section was not poured at the Securian parking ramp to allow vehicle access.
  • Poured concrete curb on west side of Minnesota Street from 7th Place to 7th Street.  
  • Poured the concrete pavement on the east side of Minnesota Street up to the Securian driveway and the entire roadway width from 7th Place to 7th Street.
  • The concrete is currently curing and requires 7 days to reach its required strength before it can be used.
• The west side of Minnesota Street is being prepped and graded for curb and pavement work next week.
  • Traffic is being adjusted to the west side of the roadway for this construction work. 
  • Please continue to use caution and be aware of signage and construction workers as you drive through the construction area.

Next week (September 30 – October 4)

• Crews will be preparing the west side of the roadway from 6th Street to 7th Place for concrete curb on Tuesday (10/1) and pouring pavement on Thursday or Friday (10/2 or 10/3).
• Crews plan to pour remaining curb and driveway at Securian Financial.  
  • Access will be maintained to the parking ramp at all times. 
  • There may be a short pause or delay in parking ramp access as crews are working in this area.
  • We appreciate your patience while the crews do their best to pour the concrete in these tight locations.
• Crews will work on prepping the sidewalks on the east side of Minnesota Street for upcoming concrete work.
• Crews will also install the Golden Rule driveway apron next week.

    • All these areas are get rock material placed and graded when they complete.

• Concrete subcontractor poured curb on Minnesota Street north of 7th Place.
• Roadways are getting prepped and graded.
• Tree trench will be getting excavated and installed on west side of Minnesota Street in front of the Doubletree Hotel.

Next week (September 23-27)

• Crews will be preparing roadway north of 7th Place for concrete pavement Monday and pouring pavement Tuesday and Wednesday.
• Crews will be pouring curb south of 7th Place on the East side of Minnesota Street.
  • This will include a majority of the Securian Financial Driveway entrance. (One entrance lane will remain open).
• Crews will work on prepping the roadway south of 7th Place for concrete pavement on Friday. 

 This week (September 9-13)

• Construction continues on Minnesota Street from 6th to 9th Streets.

Next week (September 16-20)

• Crews will work on removals and beginning to prep subgrade on Minnesota Street south of 7th Street.
  • From September 6th to October 4th the Golden Rule Parking Lot will be inaccessible.
    • All tenants of the Golden Rule have been relocated to a nearby parking ramp.  (Please contact Golden Rule Management with any further questions)
• Earthwork crew will continue working on installing new tree trench on Minnesota Street (west side), south of 7th Street.
• Earthwork crews will also be working on walk removals on the east side, next to the 428 Building.
• Concrete crews plan to pour first portion of concrete curb north of 7th Place and south of 7th Street.
• Work will continue on storm and sanitary sewer structures and connections on Minnesota Street.
  • All vehicles exiting Securian Financial will be directed onto 7th Place.
• Temporary water service at the Doubletree will be removed and the city connection will be reestablished.
• Xcel utility crew will be working on cable removals through out the site.

 This week (September 2-6)

  • Saint Paul Regional Water Services is in the process of testing the new watermain and once completed they will reconnect all properties on temporary water connections.
  • All temporary water connections are still operational.
• Utility crews are working on storm sewer installations.
  • There are some open excavations on Minnesota Street.
• Private utility and city lighting crews are working on prepping and pouring the light pole foundations and installing new conduit lines.
• Earthwork crews are continuing with removals throughout the site.
  • All these areas will get rock material placed and graded when they are completed.
  • Pay attention to traffic signage, vehicle through routes will get re-routed at times so crews can continue their work.
• Earthwork crews are in the process of removing and prepping both the east and west side of Minnesota Street from north of 7th Street to 9th Street fro new concrete walk next week.

Next week (September 2-6)

• Crews will work on removals on Minnesota Street south of 7th Street.
• Earthwork crew will begin working on installing new tree trench on Minnesota Street (west side), south of 7th Street.
• Crews will be preparing and pouring concrete walk on the east side of Minnesota Street north of 7th Street.
• Electrical conduit and signal bases will be placed and installed behind the curb in the right of way.
• A subcontractor will be boring an electrical conduit across the 7th Street intersection.
• Watermain installation will continue on Minnesota Street.
  • Securian Financial entrance will be limited to one access lane and exiting will be directed onto 7th Place.
  • Crews will be backfilling the watermain as they proceed further down the road.
• Please follow all traffic signs and be aware of pedestrians and construction crews when crossing intersections and driving through the construction area.

    • Temporary water at the 428 Building as been converted back to the main connection. The temporary connection will be disassembled in the near future.

• Earthwork crews are removing existing roadways, curbs, and sidewalks.
  • All these areas will get rock material placed and graded when they are completed.

• Traffic signal at 7th Place and Minnesota Street has been removed. Stops signs are in place at this intersection.
• Crews have begun work to install storm drain and watermain infrastructure.

Next week (August 12 - 16)

• Crews will be doing concrete and pavement removals.
• Crews will continue removing and installing the watermain system in Minnesota Street and on 7th Place near the intersection.

This week (July 29 - August 2)

• The contractor has begun construction on Minnesota Street from 6th Street to 9th Street.
• Traffic control signage for vehicles and pedestrians is in place. 
  • A single lane for local access will be maintained on Minnesota Street between 6th and 7th Streets.
  • Minnesota Street is closed to all traffic between 7th and 9th Streets.
  • Intersections at cross streets will remain open.
  • Please follow all posted signs.
• Crews milled (removed the roadway surface) from 6th to 9th Streets.

Next week (August 5 - 9)

• Traffic signals at the 7th Place intersection will be in flasher mode until Wednesday, August 7 when they are removed and replaced with temporary traffic signage.
• Utility crews will work to install storm drain and watermain infrastructure.
