The Saint Paul Way

The Saint Paul Police Department is a national leader in transforming public safety for a more just and peaceful future.

From our founding as one of the nation's first police departments, to our groundbreaking 1999 partnership with the Saint Paul NAACP, to today's innovative approach to community-first response, SPPD consistently drives law enforcement forward.

In 2017, we published a detailed report about how we're evolving to serve all our City's people better. We also share our policy handbook with the public, so you can see the guidelines that govern our work.
