Reward Increased to $4,000 in Hit-and-Run Homicide

The Saint Paul Police Foundation is now offering an additional $1,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver who intentionally struck and killed Danny Wright, 54.

Combined with the foundation’s current reward of $1500 and Crime Stoppers reward of up to $1,000, the total reward in this case is now $4,000.

The homicide happened at about 5 am Saturday, August 7, 2010 in the Union Gospel Mission parking lot, located at 435 University Avenue. Witnesses tell investigators Wright was walking eastbound on University Avenue when the suspect, an adult man, drove up along side of him and shouted at Wright. As Wright walked into the parking lot, the driver followed him and accelerated, intentionally running Wright down.

The car fled westbound on University Ave. from John Street. Wright was transported to Regions Hospital where he later died. Saint Paul Police believe the driver was in a smaller, two-door dark blue or green car. The car likely has or had damage to the front end, hood and/or roof.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Saint Paul Police Department homicide unit at 651- 266-5650 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
