Safe Streets for All: Transportation Safety Action Plan

The City of Saint Paul has developed a Transportation Safety Action Plan to identify and eliminate fatalities and serious injuries from vehicle crashes for everyone (pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, and drivers).

With community input, this plan prioritizes roadway and infrastructure projects that address safety challenges for residents of Saint Paul and supports future funding opportunities for safety projects.

The plan centers the people and communities most affected by traffic-related injuries and fatalities—including pedestrians, bicyclists, and people in historically underserved communities—to improve safety for all users.

Why this matters

Actions and projects identified in this plan will help eliminate traffic crashes and address issues like reckless and distracted driving and high traffic speeds.

Transportation Safety Action Plan

The City of Saint Paul's Transportation Safety Action Plan was completed in June 2023. City staff will update this document with community input and new data as needed.

Project Goals

  • Adopt a Transportation Safety Action Plan to prioritize transportation safety projects identified by Saint Paul residents.
  • Apply for Federal Safe Streets for All funding. If awarded grant, implement safety projects.
  • Determine physical infrastructure projects, strategies, and policies that address and reduce traffic crashes.
  • Improve how the City selects and designs future projects that improve transportation safety.
