2. What is an Affirmative Action Plan?

An Affirmative Action Program or Plan is a set of goal-oriented management policies and procedures to eliminate barriers to employment opportunities for minorities, women and qualified disabled persons that are not based on specific job requirements. The plan includes a company’s self-examination of its workforce and employment practices and sets forth action-oriented programs to identify and correct deficiencies in the areas of equal employment opportunity.

You will receive a confirmation letter once your compnay's Affirmative Action Plan has been approved.

6. What if my company already has an active (less than 2-years-old) Affirmative Action Plan with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights or the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights?

The City of Saint Paul Department of Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity (HREEO) approves reciprocity with other certifying authorities.

HREEO accepts Affirmative Action Plans approved by the State of Minnesota or the City of Minneapolis.

The AAP will expire in accordance with the provisions of the certifying authority. Companies must provide documentation from the certifying authority verifying the status of the company’s Affirmative Action Plan.
