[ARCHIVED] Como Park Ski Center open for pre-season weekends December 14-15 and 21-22


SAINT PAUL –The Como Park Ski Center will be open special pre-season weekend hours on December 14-15 and December 21-22. During both pre-season weekends the downhill ski area and chalet will be open from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. and will offer downhill skiing/snowboarding, equipment rentals, and fittings for rental equipment. Introductory cross country ski lessons will also be offered on December 14 and 15.

Como Park Ski Center will begin regular season hours on Dec. 26, with special extended holiday hours featured from Dec. 26, 2013 through Jan. 2, 2014. The regular Como Park Ski Chalet Hours are: Saturdays 8 a.m.-6 p.m. (lessons only), Sundays 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3p.m.-9 p.m., and Fridays 5 p.m.-10 p.m. The Ski Center is closed on Mondays and Thursdays.

The Como Park Ski Center chalet offers food service, downhill ski, snowboard, and cross country ski rentals as well as affordable lessons taught by professional instructors. Registrations for downhill ski, snowboard and cross country ski lessons, which begin in early January, are now being accepted. Saint Paul Parks and Recreation is also pleased to announce the return of Friday Family Night Ski sessions. Discounted skiing for the whole family will be offered every Friday night beginning Dec. 27 thru Feb.7, from 5-10 p.m. During the Friday Night Ski Session a family of 5 will receive downhill ski, cross country ski, or snowboard equipment rentals and tow rope tickets all for only $60.00 and for individuals it is only $15.00.

The Como Park Ski Center also features cross country skiing with 1.7 K of lighted cross country ski trails for beginner-level skiing and 5K of intermediate/advanced level skiing. In addition to Como Park, 3.5 K of beginner and intermediate level cross country ski trails are also groomed at the Highland 9 Golf Course and 10 K of intermediate trails are groomed at Phalen Golf Course (cross country skiing is not allowed on the Highland National Golf Course). Cross country ski trails are currently being groomed and are in good condition.
