The RSVP’s good things will far outlast the bad. Entire neighborhoods will have “facelifts,” with new trees, lighting, and a freshly paved street that will last 40 years or more.
Oiled streets need a new surface of oil and sand every three years. Paved streets only need a treatment of heavy oil and crushed rock every 10 years.
What's more, a paved street will drain better during rain storms, and be smoother, better-looking, and virtually pothole-free. Saint Paulites feel a new sense of pride in their neighborhoods. For some, that pride has carried over into action, like painting and repairs, that have improved their neighborhoods even more.
The City has funding to help residents improve their homes. For information, call the Home Loan Fund in the Planning and Economic Development Department at (651) 266-6626.
