Solar Projects and Initiatives

In 2008, the Cities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis were recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy as Solar America Cities. In partnership with other organizations, the city has become a leader in the region in installing and promoting solar energy and continues to commit to solar use. The city has completed three solar thermal projects on its facilities including the Midwest’s largest solar thermal installation on the Saint Paul RiverCentre. Many other solar projects have been completed or are in progress.
