2012 Landmark Trees

In 2012, twenty six Landmark Tree nominations were submitted by Saint Paul residents, businesses, and city staff.  Eight remarkable trees were selected by the Tree Advisory Panel and by popular vote on the Saint Paul Natural Resource's Facebook page as the 2012 Saint Paul Landmark Trees.  The selected trees represent the vitality, heritage, and species diversity found in Saint Paul's community forest while reflecting the stewardship that we all contribute to its care.

Included in the 2012 Landmark Tree selections:
  • Three new tree species not previously found in the Landmark Tree list
  • One newly identified state champion now listed on the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Big Tree List...its the River Birch
  • Four additional planning districts now have a Landmark Tree...Battle Creek (District 1), The Greater East Side (District 2), West Seventh (District 9), and Saint Anthony Park (District 12). 13 of the city's 17 planning districts are now represented.
