Today, Mayor Chris Coleman thanked Director Luz Frias for her service to the city as she announced her acceptance of Vice President of Community Philanthropy at the Minneapolis Foundation.

“Director Frias was a critical part of establishing our Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity department, and her work in that department has been remarkable,” Mayor Chris Coleman said.

The Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity (HREEO) department was created in 2009 when the Human Rights was merged with the newly formed Equal Economic Opportunity department. 

In accordance with the Saint Paul charter, a community advisory committee will be appointed by Mayor Coleman and the City Council in the next 30 days to select a new director.   Readus Fletcher, currently the HREEO Deputy Director, will serve as Interim Director.

Director Frias’s last day in the department will be April 20, 2012.
