In July of 2012, myself, my partner Dale Schoenbauer, and several of our deputies attended L.O.C.K.U.P. Instructor school. Since that time we've had the opportunity to send several more deputies to that class and to L.E.A.D.S., also taught by Kevin Dillon.
These classes and the partnership that we have developed with you and with the PDI are having a profound effect on our training programs and on all of our deputies at the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office. As an organization, we were at a crossroads last summer. We had lost a longtime trainer to retirement and the 'combatives' side of our training program lacked a solid foundation. With your help, we found it in L.O.C.K.U.P.
In the short time that we have been using and teaching it, we have already begun to see a difference in the attitude and performance of both our licensed staff and our civilian detention staff. They are now far better equipped mentally and physically to respond to the challenges that they face every day from our 'clientele.'
In addition to the classes that you and the PDI have provided, you have provided us with some amazing ongoing support. From organizing metro-wide instructor support meetings to the one-on-one assistance that you have personally provided me with, you and PDI are the complete package.
