“I was covering an officer I was training on a call in which he was attempting to pick up a party on a parole violation warrant. The party was contacted in front of the residence and when the officer initiated the arrest, the party tried to flee. We were able to stop her with the other officer getting in front of her with me in a position behind her. I had a split second to initiate the rear sentry and took advantage of it. It worked perfectly and she was taken into custody without further incident. We were still moving when the rear sentry was used and that did not change the outcome.
I was recently taught this maneuver by the trainers (Sgt Toni Weinbeck-Brooklyn Park PD) with Louka Tactical at a conference held by Rocky Mountain Women in Law Enforcement. I have discussed this training with our arrest control team in hopes that LOCKUP can be integrated into our system.”
