Getting a Job with YJC

Youth Job Corps

Youth Job Corps FAQS

1. Submit an Online Application
All applicants must complete and submit an application online to be considered for employment. Please remember that applying for the Youth Job Corps does not guarantee you a position. All applicants will be required to attend an orientation, complete a job search, interview and be hired by one of our employers.

2. Attend Orientation
An orientation letter with dates, times, and information will be mailed to the applicant’s home within 3-4 weeks of the date the application is submitted. Orientation letters should be read very carefully! All applicants are required to bring their original social security card and a current photo ID to their orientation and a parental permission form. You may be asked to verify information from your application including household income, age, residency, disability, etc. upon request. This request for verification will be included in your orientation letter. Applicants without all of these items will not be permitted to attend orientation.

3. Job Search and Interview
Following orientation, all applicants will have the opportunity to meet our employers at the YJC Career Expo. In addition, all applicants will receive access to the YJC Online Job Bank to search for summer jobs. The Online Job Bank will allow applicants to find a job that best matches their interests and is close to home. Using the online YJC Online Job Bank, applicants will submit their top 5 job interests. This information will be forwarded to YJC employers for interviews and hiring. You can view a complete list of jobs offered through YJC last summer by visiting the YJC Online Job Bank. Please remember that applying or interviewing for a job does not guarantee you employment.

4. Work Experience
Applicants who are hired by YJC will receive an official letter and email in early June. Applicants who are interviewed and hired will work with their worksite supervisor to develop a work schedule. Most youth will work for 10 weeks during the summer.
