6th + 5th Streets Draft Vision
A city that is a great place to do business is also a great place to live - a diversified economy, leading educational institutions, world-class health care and renowned cultural and recreational activities. By investing in sound infrastructure, high quality public amenities and proactive environmental stewardship, Saint Paul is building the Most Livable City in America because business thrives when employees enjoy working where they can also live and play.

Improving the physical enviornment of 6th and 5th Streets between Rice Park and Mears Park is a priority initiative for the City of Saint Paul's Department of Economic Development (PED) in 2009 and beyond. PED has engaged the Saint Paul on the Mississippi Design Center to develop an urban design vision and strategy to achieve this end.

The effort was guided by an Advisory Group comprosed of:
  • City Department Staff from PED, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, and the Department of Safety and Inspections
  • Metro Transit
  • CapitolRiver Council
  • Members of the Saint Paul Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA)
