Education: Ready for School, Ready for Life
"Education is my crime prevention strategy, my neighborhood development strategy, my workforce development strategy and my economic development strategy.”
- Mayor Chris Coleman

Mayor Coleman believes that educating our children is the key to the future success and vitality of Saint Paul. A majority of jobs in the future will require some kind of postsecondary degree or training, even manufacturing jobs.

High quality education starts at home with parents talking and reading to their young children and goes right on through the child’s life. Many sources are necessary to educate a child for a lifetime.

That’s why Mayor Coleman has brought the resources of the City, from libraries to parks and police, to help families help their children learn and grow. The city provides many programs year round for children and their families in libraries and recreation centers. The City is also a close partner with Saint Paul Public Schools and other forms of schools in the city. By working together we can help prepare our children for successful futures through education and learning.

After-school and Summer Learning
Students spend 20 percent of their waking moments in school. The other time can be spent anywhere doing anything – like in quality programs at safe neighborhood places with engaging staff.

College Access and Career Readiness
Young peoples' potential for success after school is bolstered with access to people and information that can inspire and guide them into the next stages in life.
