The Saint Paul Police Department is requesting the assistance of the public in obtaining information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for a homicide that occurred on September 15, 2004. The details of the case are as follows:

The Saint Paul Police Homicide Unit is actively investigating the murder of Edward (Eddie) Louis Montez.

Eddie Montez was shot and killed in his parent's home in the 2000 block of Reaney Avenue about 1:30 PM on September 15th, 2004. Investigators have determined that three men in their early to mid-twenties came to the house and inquired as to the whereabouts of the victim. Sensing danger, the victim's mother attempted to keep the men from entering the home but they pushed their way in. The men located the victim in the upstairs of the home where he was shot. The three suspects fled the area via an unknown means. While investigators do not believe that the incident was random, they are actively seeking and all leads to clearly establish the motive and identities of the men responsible for the murder.
