Fall Budget Review
December 16 is the date when the City Council takes final action on the 2010 tax levy and budget proposal. The first phase of the budget review was completed on September 9 with adoption of the maximum proposed tax levy.

State law requires the two step decision on the tax levy. The amount certified on December 16 cannot be larger than the amount declared on September 9. Another requirement is that every taxpayer receive a notice with an estimate of the tax change for their property. These notices are mailed by the County late in November.

The City Council will be meeting on November 25 and December 2 to complete their budget review.

The City, County, and School District all will be holding final public hearings on the budget proposals and tax levies:

Margaret Egan is responsible for coordinating the budget review process. Her background is in municipal budgeting and financial planning. Margaret was most recently Finance Director for the City of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota and earlier served as the Finance Director/City Clerk for the City of New Brighton, Minnesota. She has a Master's in Public Administration from the University of Kansas.
