Blooming Saint Paul Award Categories

Gardens in Saint Paul can be nominated to win a Golden Bloom, Silver Bloom or Bronze Bloom in the following categories:

  • Business/Institutional Award– For beautifying store fronts, plazas, grounds, or outdoor seating in an exemplary manner.
  • Kern Landscaping Residential Award – For residential property with exemplary gardens. Gardens must be clearly visible from street, sidewalk or alley.
  • CRWD Clean Water Award –  for an exemplary landscaping project or practice
     that demonstrates stormwater runoff reduction, pollution prevention or
     water reuse.      
  • Egg|Plant Edible Garden Award – for an exemplary residential or community
     site incorporating edible plants into the landscaping (50% or more of plants
  • Garden Steward Volunteer Award – for exemplary volunteer group or individual
     enrolled in the Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Garden Steward program.
  • Gardening Advocate Award – To an individual or group whose actions have been exemplary in promoting and supporting gardening efforts in Saint Paul.


  • Blooming Public Art Award - new in 2014 -- for your favorite public art piece in Saint Paul. It can be a new piece you just discovered or an old piece that you’ve loved for a long time. Any art located within the public realm (viewable from street, sidewalk or public property) may be nominated.  In August, everyone will be able to vote online as to
    which nominated art should receive an award of recognition.
