  • Awarded nearly $1.5 million in federal and state homeland security grants for training and equipment purchases
  • Developed and formally adopted the City's all-hazard Disaster Mitigation Plan
  • Updated the City’s Emergency Operations Plan to address the pandemic influenza threat
  • Formed a City-wide contingency planning group made up of representatives from all departments and offices - the Saint Paul Emergency Management Council
  • Established a cache of equipment, supplies, and medications for use during a major disease outbreak or hazardous chemical incident
  • Delivered personal and family preparedness training to over 3,000 citizens and City employees
  • Trained over 1,000 City employees in the National Incident Management System (NIMS)
