Mission Statement
Our mission is to save lives, preserve property, and protect the environment from emergencies and disasters.

We adhere to our mission by following four steps.

Steps	Description
Prevention	Identify events and conditions that threaten our community - like severe weather, hazardous chemical spills, and terrorism - and find ways to reduce the likelihood that these events will occur and minimize their harmful effects.
Preparation	Take steps to prepare citizens, businesses, and City responders for emergencies and disasters. This includes training, purchasing supplies and equipment, making contingency plans, and testing readiness.
Response	Coordinate a Citywide response to emergencies and disasters when they occur, and work with State, Regional, and Federal response partners to deal with the immediate consequences of the disaster.
Recovery	Lead efforts to restore the safety, stability, and economic vitality of individuals, families, businesses, and the community following a disaster.
